Week 2 A’Grade Finals results
Our A’Grade side traveled across to Forestville yesterday afternoon to match up against the Ferrets. In front of large crowd on a sunny afternoon with plenty of maroon colouring the southern end of the hill, Forestville took a 12-6 lead into half time. At 18-6 with time on the clock Berowra narrowly missed scoring through Jack Hawkins off the back of a break down the left hand side and in field kick but unfortunately was ruled lost forward in the tackle putting the ball down. With Forestville scoring again shortly after, time ran away and at full time Forestville finished eventual 24-6 winners despite a strong effort by the team. Having not played for three weeks the boys will be better for the run and certainly have much more to offer in this competition. Thanks to all our supporters who made the trek over to Forestville to support the team. Plenty left in the season let’s all get behind the boys this week.
By all reports it was an entertaining match in the week two elimination match over at Hitchcock Park between the Avalon Bulldogs (3rd) and the Narrabeen Sharks (5th). Whilst the Sharks put up a solid defensive effort, their 35% completion rate in attack gave last years reigning premiers too much ball as the Bulldogs finished eventual 14-6 winners to move forward to this weeks game. Congratulations to Narrabeen on making the semi’s this year with a new side; we look forward to competing against you again next year.
Which leaves us with three teams left in the competition and a huge match at Warrina Street oval this Sunday 20th August between the mighty Berowra Wallabies and Avalon Bulldogs to see who plays Forrestville Sunday week at Brookvale for the honour of being named 2017 Northern Conference A’Grade Premiers!
The A’Grade action kicks off at 3;00pm; the preliminary game at 1:30pm sees cross town rivals Asquith U16’s go head to head with Avalon for a place in the grand final against Mona Vale Raiders. Come on down to Warrina Street to enjoy our famous BBQ and cheer the boys into the GF. Fully licensed bar will be available from the BBQ and the Clubhouse at completion of the U16’s game (no BYO).
