Club Policies

The following policies have been agreed upon by the committee and shall be used to ensure that issues arising during the football season are dealt with formally, professionally and consistently.

  1. CODE OF CONDUCT: The committee of the Berowra Junior Rugby League Club wholly encourage team bonding and group events, however we must instil a strict code of conduct whilst ever players and officials are representing the club in any capacity be those at socially, officially, at games or before and after games. This code includes language, actions and the welfare of other people and or processions of other people, clubs and individuals. Consumption of Alcohol around or in close proximity to minors should be carefully managed, and under NO circumstances what so ever should minors be provided with or encouraged to consume such beverages. Failure to observe these guidelines will be seen as a very serious breach and dealt with by the executive committee as an extremely serious matter.

  2. PLAYING ABOVE CORRECT AGE GROUP: All players shall play for the correct age that they are eligible for. Ie: if a player is turning 12 that year they qualify for the under 12’s unless, there are insufficient players for the correct age group to field a team, they are asked by the coach of the age group above (and their current coach agrees) to assist / help out due to player shortage or injury, or by doing so they do not leave their true age group short or impact on eligible players in the higher age group being forced to stand aside.

  3. COACHING POSITIONS: All coaching positions shall be declared open at the end of each season. They shall be advertised in the local press and within the clubs website. Expressions of interest should be made in writing to the club president by the advertised date. Should there be multiple applications for the same age group; applicants will be asked to provide details of previous experience, qualifications and results to the clubs executive committee who will make the final decision. All parties will be advised in writing within a reasonable timeframe.

  4. TEAM ISSUES: Any issues arising from players or parents should initially be referred to the team coach and or manager. Should this action not resolve the issue they should be taken up with a member of the executive committee, who will mediate between all parties with a view to resolving the issue as quickly and professionally as possible.

  5. COMMUNICATION: Two way communication is essential so we ask that players, coaches and managers use both the junior and senior liaison officers as their initial points of contact. Every effort will be made to place important club information on the Berowra Wallabies website as soon as possible so don’t overlook this resource. Additionally, a list of all coaches, managers and committee can be found on the website where contact telephone numbers and email addresses are displayed. Emails to coaching and committee addresses will be sent to all coaches / committee as a group email.
  6. SPONSORSHIP AND ALLOCATION OF FUNDS: The Club, as part of its normal operations, will arrange and collect sponsorship from various individuals and organisations. This sponsorship may either be associated with particular teams or the club in general, and such association will be negotiated as part of each sponsorship deal. The funds collected as part of any sponsorship arrangements will be used for the on-going running of the Club, and will not generally be available to fund individual team organised events, unless specifically authorised by the Executive.

End of season activities are encouraged, however, teams will need to conduct fundraising events throughout the season to cover the cost of these activities.
