Congratulations U10 Maroons!

Over the weekend our Juniors were competing in semi final football of their respective competitions. At Storey Park, our U10 Maroons were playing in a grand final qualifier against Asquith to decide who went straight through to the grand final. At half time the team was down 16-12 with everything to fight for. The second half was more of the same with Asquith holding a 28-24 lead through to the dying seconds of the game when Cody Morris scored on the hooter to lock the scores at 28-28. With everything on the line Adam Bovis lined up the kick, and whilst the Berowra supporters at Storey collectively held their breathes, calmly slotted the ball between the sticks to kick the team into a second GF in as many years! Players Player was awarded to Cody Morris, Players of the Day were Adam Bovis and Josh Ward. Well done to everyone involved with this team! We’ll all be there Saturday week cheering you in another GF!

Earlier in the morning at Storey our U10 Greys  faced off against Hills Hawks in their elimination final, and raced away 48-28 winners to keep their grand final aspirations alive. This weekend the U10 Greys move forward to play Asquith at Greenway Park to see who plays our U10 Maroons at North Sydney Oval next Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is 1:30pm. This is a massive game for this team and our club, lets get across to Greenway Park and show your support for these boys and cheer them on to victory and a chance to play their mates in the final game of the season.

In other semi final news from last weekend our U9’s matched up against Willoughby Roos in the U9 Silver elimination final at Willoughby Park. In a tight match, the team narrowly lost 32-30 to the Roos.

Over at Nolans our U12’s were playing in a preliminary final against Harbord United Devils to see who would meet Willoughby Roos in the Northern Conference Bronze grand final. After a slow start that saw Harbord take a 10-0 lead the team fought their way back in to the game and at half time were trailing by only four points with the score 16-12. The second half Berowra were able to hold Harbord to a single try and forced enough errors to gain enough ball possession to build some pressure and right on full time crossed the line for the second time in the half to lock the scores at 20-all. Unfortunately the conversion was waved away and we headed into extra time where Harbord managed an early try, then another two on the siren of each half to finish eventual 36-20 winners. Despite some controversy around the score at completion of regular time our boys handled the disappointment extremely well and are a credit to the club and themselves.
