Here are some photos of our mighty U10 Maroons playing in their Grand Final at North Sydney Oval on Saturday against Asquith. Whilst the team narrowly went down to the magpies, 30-28, they played a fantastic game of football and as a club we are extremely proud of the teams achievements in making it through to back to back Grand Finals. Watching from the sidelines it was clear these players love playing with and for each other ... just take a look at some of the post try celebrations! Avalon Back to Back Premiers! … A’Grade Finals Series Update Week 4

RoundTheGrounds
In Sunday afternoons Northern Conference Open Age (A'Grade) grand final, the Avalon Bulldogs defeated Forestville Ferrets 14-12 at Brookvale oval to take out the 2017 premiership. After going to half time 4-2 down and then trailing 12-6 into the final ten minutes, minor premiers Forestville looked to be headed for victory. That was until Bulldogs captain Aaron Groom crossed the stripe, which when converted locked the scores 12-all and everything to play for.  Then with only minutes left on the clock, a penalty in front of the posts gifted Avalon an easy two points to take the lead 14-12 which they held on their way to winning back to back Premierships! Looking at their progression through the finals series, having played four sudden-death games to take the premiership, congratulations must be given to…

Thanks for the season! … A’Grade Finals Series Update Week 3

RoundTheGrounds
On Sunday afternoon in front of a packed Warrina Street oval the A'Grade boys unfortunately played their last game of the year in a knock out semi against the Avalon bulldogs. In what was a very hard fought game, both teams started well with an even flowing game, but a well prepared Avalon scored first before some slick attack saw Berowra hit back to level the scores up at 6-all. After Avalon had three repeated sets attacking the Berowra line an ensuing penalty resulted in the away side taking an easy two points on offer to lead 8-6. Soon after the Berowra side again crossed the line and converted to snatch a four point lead at 12-8. The scores would stay that way until the final minutes of the game when Avalon forced their…

Forestville Through to Grand Final … A’Grade Finals Series Update Week 2

RoundTheGrounds
Week 2 A'Grade Finals results Our A'Grade side traveled across to Forestville yesterday afternoon to match up against the Ferrets. In front of large crowd on a sunny afternoon with plenty of maroon colouring the southern end of the hill, Forestville took a 12-6 lead into half time. At 18-6 with time on the clock Berowra narrowly missed scoring through Jack Hawkins off the back of a break down the left hand side and in field kick but unfortunately was ruled lost forward in the tackle putting the ball down. With Forestville scoring again shortly after, time ran away and at full time Forestville finished eventual 24-6 winners despite a strong effort by the team. Having not played for three weeks the boys will be better for the run and…

Whilst Forestville enjoyed a weekend off, and as Avalon, Brothers, Valleys & Narrabeen were belting into each other to see who would progress through to the second week elimination match (see Week 1 results below) our boys were recovering from Saturday's brutal beach session led by super coach Ross Hoye at Palm Beach to ensure they are ready and raring to go come Sunday! We're putting a massive call out now to all Berowra supporters to pull on your wallabies colours, pack yourself a picnic, throw the family in the car and punch in 'Ferretville' in the SatNav and let the car lead you…

What a fantastic weekend of footy! We hope everyone had a great day celebrating 50 years of rugby league in Berowra on Saturday at Warrina Street enjoying the carnival games and eight games of league played, culminating in our A'Grade side beating Avalon to head into the long weekend top of the table! Then Sunday our C'Grade team picked up where A' Grade left off and enjoyed their first victory of the season proper at Storey Park against the Enfield Federals. Junior Appreciation Round March Friday night our junior players had an opportunity to march around ANZ Stadium at Homebush prior to the South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Parramatta Eels game. It was a fantastic night with 25 of our players marching and enjoying watching the game with their families; although a few of our representatives including our club secretary might argue that the game result was less than fantastic!
